In a time of climate, environmental, health, political and economic crises, a partnership with an entity that is actively undermining international commitments to advance sustainable development, is a serious aberration.

Feminist movements and spaces offer me safety and empowerment. They are the mothers we wished we had and the link we needed to connect and organize ourselves despite our differences against a common enemy that has been undermining everyone, patriarchy.

Allow yourself to drop everything and sprint off into the jungle. Befriend a daisy clad nymph, start a small library in the roots of a tree. Dance naked and howl at the moonlight. Converse with Oshun at the river bed. 

I love the way you have held me when no one else has been able to, but more importantly how we hold each other. While you understand stigma, discrimination, violence and pain, you also understand joy, love and forgiveness.

Feminism to me is the antithesis to social and political apathy. It also means once you adopt a feminist lens, nothing can ever be the same. My friends and I used to talk about how it was like putting on glasses that you can never take off because you now see the world for what it is, mess and all.

This is an opportunity to contribute to our organisation’s governance and to be part of an amazing group of feminists from around the world.

This decision is the result of a rigorous process with full participation of the Board and the staff of AWID.

Advocating for alternative visions and alternative realities to the one we are currently living in is a fundamental building block of the feminist agenda.

The Human Rights Council (HRC) is the foremost intergovernmental body responsible for the promotion and protection of all human rights around the globe. The 50th session of the UN Human Rights Council takes place from 13th June 2022 - 8 July 2022, in Geneva.
