AWID has decided that our staff will not be attending in-person the 70th Session of the CSW in New York. This is the first time in many years that we have made this decision, and it was not taken lightly.

As the 69th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) in New York City came to a close on March 21, 2025, feminists reflected on the impact of anti-rights actors on the outcomes of the session, in a context where gender justice goals seemed ready to be sacrificed.

Many of the activists who were present in Beijing in 1995 continue to engage with the CSW, and are peppered across government, academic, multilateral and civil society spaces. Retrospectives about the conference speak of the solidarity, connection and sense of hope.
