China: The unjust arrest of woman human rights defender Su Changlan

Su Changlan is a dedicated advocate of human rights and is currently in prison for dissenting Chinese authorities. On 27 October 2014, she was taken from her house and was kept incommunicado until her family received a notice of official charges brought against her on 3 December 2014.

Detained at the Nanhair District Detention Center, Su Changlan is facing life imprisonment for “inciting subversion.” It is believed that charges brought against her stem from her online support of pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong.

AWID’s local partners following Su Changlan’s case have produced this video at great risk to highlight and raise awareness on the unjust arrest of Su Changlan and her fight for democracy and human rights.
