Global Feminist Calls for Solidarity and Action in July 2026

Across the Majority World, movements are organizing networks of mutual aid and demanding an end to attacks on their fundamental freedoms.

Solidarity is a practice, and the people of Venezuela, Afghanistan and Sudan are calling on us, in the international community, for collective, material support and resistance. Human rights defenders and advocates for bodily autonomy are also inviting feminist activists and organizations to co-sign and amplify key demands for justice and accountability.

Venezuela

Two devastating earthquakes struck Venezuela last week, leaving thousands of people homeless and the infrastructure in complete ruins. Local and regional movements are leading emergency response efforts: to help provide shelter, food and psychosocial support. Direct funding to these groups is essential to ensure local communities are receiving immediate help.

Afghanistan

Dozens of women and girls are being silenced and detained by the Taliban authorities in Herat. Those who protested against the disappearances and violence were met with open fire, intensified policing and crackdowns. People who are suspected to participate in the protest are having their phones confiscated, while others are being abducted from their homes.

Sudan

Armed forces are systematically targeting innocent civilians in North and South Kordofan. Many families are facing starvation, displacement and indiscriminate drone attacks on their homes. Medical facilities are all but destroyed, effectively cutting off life-saving healthcare thousands are in need of right now. The crisis is deepening while access to aid remains blocked by those perpetuating the atrocities.

#EndReprisals

Human rights defenders who speak truth to power across the Majority World are up against escalating reprisals. Journalists, activists and whistleblowers from Hong Kong to Egypt are subjected to digital surveillance, physical threats and imprisonment. These retaliatory measures aim to quash dissent and punish those documenting abuses, generating a climate of fear that undermines efforts towards global justice.

A Feminist Joint Statement

The 2026 Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS was adopted without international consensus, reflecting the lack of concern for the global health crisis. A joint statement with nearly 300 feminist organizations signatories reads that the Declaration falls short on sexual and reproductive health justice, bodily autonomy, decriminalization and the rights of queer, trans, women and gender-diverse communities.
