CARE is seeking a Gender in Emergencies (GiE) Advisor who facilitates, coordinates and advocates for the implementation of gender equality programming in CARE’s 3 key sectors (WASH, Shelter & Food Security) in a humanitarian emergency setting in accordance to the CI mandate, policies and guidelines and the IASC Gender Handbook and the IASC Guidelines for GBV Interventions in Humanitarian Settings.
The IRC is currently starting its operations in Libya with emergency and reproductive healthcare programming targeted at the most vulnerable non-displaced, IDPs, refugees and migrants in hard-to-reach areas. The reproductive health activities will specifically target women and girls. IRC’s emergency team is engaging local communities and empowering them to ensure they have equal access to health services while mobilizing outreach clinics to maintain proximity to the people in need.

The consultant will be responsible for coordination of all prevention activities under Project DOT’s Young Women’s Leadership Initiative. In this role, the consultant will manage the day-to-day program administration and facilitate communication between and among the subcontracting partners, and the Alliance in order to ensure the program goals and objectives are met. Additionally, s/he will be responsible for managing the youth workshop planning and facilitation, outreach and mobilization components of the program.

A spurious investigation into Egyptian human rights organizations has escalated. On 7 December, prominent women’s rights defender and lawyer Azza Soliman was arrested and charged. On 12 December, a court hearing is expected to decide on the freezing of her assets. Separately, a new draconian NGO bill is awaiting the President’s signature.
In 1991, the Center for Women’s Global Leadership convened the first Women’s Global Leadership Institute (WGLI).
