The world is seeing a resurgence of religious extremism at national, regional, and global levels, which renews the threat to many of the rights that would be achieved and concretised such as equality of women, of citizens who belong to ethnic and religious minorities, and of sexual minorities.

One major way to end the global rape epidemic: through laws

This June, at the Council’s next session, countries will be holding their “annual full-day discussion on the human rights of women.” Equality Now calls on all governments to meet their obligations and live up to their commitments to make gender equality a reality by improving their laws on sexual violence and ensuring victims get justice.
