CARE is seeking a motivated and passionate advocate for adolescent girls’ rights who is ready to take the initiative to develop and disseminate knowledge products with strong experience with and understanding of multi-media for communications, translation of technical content for broader audiences and social media campaigning. The position provides an opportunity to be involved in advocacy work, research, writing and analysis, website and social media management; and significant involvement in our influencing efforts with peer organizations, donors, policy makers, and advocates.

The person in this role will directly implement key knowledge management and communications functions related to the Tipping Point project as a member of the Gender Justice team within the Program, Partnerships and Learning (PPL) Unit based in Atlanta, USA. The Tipping Point project is an exciting multi-country initiative on addressing child, early, and forced marriage (CEFM) with a focus on learning, documentation, and advocacy. This position will directly implement key knowledge management functions related to Tipping Point project. The Knowledge Management position manages the Tipping point website and helps capture, aggregate, analyze and disseminate lessons from priority programs, emphasizing how these can bring broader benefit to CARE and our partners. The person in this role will position collaborate closely with colleagues with the Tipping Point team as well as the Gender Justice team to promote a culture of learning, information sharing, dialogue, and critical analysis, intended to improve quality of programming, adoption of good practices, and influencing policies and practices at scale. This involves work both drawn from and shared inside CARE and from and with external partners and stakeholders.

The Technical advisor will follow CARE International’s Knowledge Management strategy (generate, organize and synthesize, enrich and package, share, adapt and apply knowledge). S/he will collaborates closely with colleagues within the Tipping Point team,  as well as the Gender Justice team, the Advocacy team, and teams in relevant Country Offices and regions to promote a culture of learning, information sharing, dialogue, and critical analysis, intended to improve quality of programming, adoption of good practices, and influencing policies and practices at scale. The Technical Advisor Knowledge Management & Communications will also utilize creative and multi-media approaches and platforms for effective dissemination of the different learning and products emerging from the project.

This involves work both drawn from and shared inside CARE and with external partners and stakeholders. S/he will follow CARE International's Knowlagent Management strategy (generate, organize and synthesize, enrich and package, share, and adapt and apply knowledge), and become proficient with CARE’s Brand Standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Tipping Point team in developing and managing knowledge products
  • Implement Knowledge Management and communication strategies for CARE’s work on Tipping Point as it fits into the broader Gender Justice unit
  • Lead the maintenance and management of the Tipping Point website on a day, to day basis, including compiling relevant internal and external updates to share through the different internal and external sharing platforms and websites
  • Implement work plans for communicating and sharing evidence, learning, and updates from programs to advance CARE’s long-term Tipping Point objectives within and outside the organization.
  • Provide technical support on Knowledge Management and Communications to Country Offices’ Tipping Point teams
  • Guide the development of materials and its constituent elements, such as the Tipping Point website, gender wiki, webinars, Technical Packs, briefing documents, and Listserve
  • In collaboration with CARE communications specialists and communications consultants, ensure knowledge products are packaged simply, efficiently, effectively and according to audience, for use with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Utilize multi-media for development of creatively packaged products for effective dissemination of lessons and evidence for advocacy and influencing purposes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, graphic design, gender studies, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience working in knowledge management, women and/or girls’ rights issues, or related work experience, technical writing, communications, and/or global development.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize information into digestible content and to write for varied audiences  
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate well with others across countries and cultures and develop and maintain positive working relationships
  • Ability to juggle multiple simultaneous projects and tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and to lead projects with minimal direction
  • Ability to work effectively and accurately under extreme deadline pressures
  • Strong writing and communication skills in English, including documented experience writing, producing technical publications as well as publications for general public and developing presentations and products using multimedia for a variety of audiences, including donors, policy makers, and the general public
  • Expertise in Word, PowerPoint, Prezi, Creative Cloud, graphic design, motion graphics, video editing, Wordpress, ability to conceptualize visual products  and other relevant computer packages and platforms
