Senior Programme Officer (UN advocacy, Human Rights Council, Universal Periodic Review)
Location: Geneva, Switzerland
Organization: ILGA World
ILGA World seeks a Senior Programme Officer to head-up its UN advocacy and policy work with the Human Rights Council (HRC) and the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) in particular. ILGA World’s advocacy and policy work in these contexts is highly collaborative with our members and LGBTI human rights defenders from national level and seeks to connect national level activists and global level UN human rights mechanisms. The successful candidate will have to be able to navigate diplomatic, government, civil society and UN spaces alike. The person will work in close collaboration with the UN institutions, permanent missions, other civil society actors and activists on national level – providing technical and other assistance to them in the context of UN mechanisms.
Further the Senior Programme Officer will monitor, document and analyse resolutions, recommendations and statements relevant for SOGIESC issues in the contexts of the HRC and UPR, develop publications to this end and manage ILGA World’s ECOSOC status.
The final offer will be conditional on the successful candidate obtaining a work permit to work in Switzerland. ILGA World will provide assistance for this. The successful candidate will ideally start working on 1 March 2020.
