Background

The New York City Alliance against Sexual Assault (the Alliance) is a non-profit in the city whose mission is to prevent sexual violence and reduce the harm it causes. Through training, advocacy and research, the Alliance has been an active force in fighting for recognition of the magnitude of the problem of sexual violence in New York City.

Overview of the Position

The Alliance is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated professional in the field of sexual assault and trauma as a Polyvictimization Consultant. This position is part of a national demonstration grant in partnership with the Queens Family Justice Center (FJC) and various city agencies to address the needs of clients utilizing the FJC who have a history of traumatic events in their lives.  Ideal candidates will possess clinical, supervision, feedback, project management, and coordination skills.  Knowledge and experience in working with trauma is required. 

Responsibilities

·              Gain familiarity with the pilot and final Polyvictimization screening tool

·              Assist with the implementation of the Polyvictimization screening tool in both the pilot and final version of the screening tool

·              Onsite coordination of partner organization staff members (case managers, intake specialists) involved with the project

·              Regularly attend all planning and grant partnership meetings; report out on progress of screening tool and the project

·              Provide feedback to partner organization staff members who are utilizing the screening tool related to integration, and assessment

  • Develop and facilitate trainings for staff involved with the project related to trauma-informed care, intake, assessment, screening, best-practice, and stabilization techniques

  • Interface with evaluation team related to use of the screening tool in the pilot and final phases of the project

·              Provide feedback, supervision, and support to partner organization staff using the screening tool

  • Prepare program reports and track statistical information for funders

Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

·       Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field required

·       Experience in working with trauma and of trauma-informed practices, clinical skills

·       Experience in project coordination and supervising staff

·       Knowledge and passion in working with anti-sexual violence framework

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, advocacy skills.

  • Able to work independently at offsite location (Queens)

  • Computer skills: facility with Internet searches, MS Office suite, and graphical presentations

  • Dedication to using a social justice framework in order to carry out work
