Managing Editor - Voluntary

At Unbecoming, we amplify voices of women and marginalized communities globally, with a focus on South Asia, on issues of social justice, world affairs, politics, economics, pop culture, and more! We provide an opportunity for readers to understand these topics through a feminist lens, and encourage new writers to express their opinions. Coming from the understanding that our reading inform our writing, we are also launching a feminist book club to complement our work.
As one of the managing editors, you will work in a team of 3-4 people, responsible to ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of the platform. In the initial phase, this will involve recruiting team members and getting them on board. Later down the line, the role will include:
- Reviewing all content as required
- Reviewing marketing plans and direction of the platform
- Liaising with editors of different verticals to ensure content goes up in a timely manner
- Overseeing book club activities
- Building partnerships and networking
These roles will be divided across the team of managing editors and not expected of a single person. The work commitment for the role is 15-20 hours per month, and is completely voluntary and non-compensated at the moment.
