Overview of the organization
The Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID) is a global, feminist, membership, movement-support organisation. Our mission is to support feminist, women’s rights and gender justice movements to thrive, to be a driving force in challenging systems of oppression, and to co-create feminist realities. AWID envisions a world where feminist realities flourish, where resources and power are shared in ways that enable everyone, and future generations, to thrive and realize their full potential with dignity, love and respect, and where Earth nurtures life in all its diversity.
The Alliance for Feminist Movements is an emerging multi-stakeholder initiative focused on exponentially increasing and improving financial and political support for women’s rights and feminist organizations and movements. Currently hosted by AWID, the Global Alliance brings together governments, private philanthropy, women’s / feminist funds and feminist civil society to increase and improve resources for feminist movements and build political support for and visibility of diverse feminist movements, agendas, and policies. AWID is interested in receiving proposals from organizations and/or individuals to develop the website for the Alliance.
Scope of the project
Objectives of the Website
- Host the Alliance for Feminist Movements strategic framework (theory of change, pillars of work, principles and commitments).
- Provide a space to sign up and become a member of the Alliance for Feminist Movements
- Host resources (articles, reports, videos, audio etc) where the different stakeholders can learn more about key discussions, best practices, challenges and experiences in funding feminist movements.
Look and Feel
AWID will provide the consultant with the visual identity elements for the website, including the logo, graphic elements, color palette, font and a sample header. As this is the website of a multi-stakeholder platform, we envision its aesthetic as simple, clean & straightforward. AWID will provide finalized, translated texts for the content.
Stakeholders from the different sectors (governments & public sector officials, women’s funds & private philanthropy, feminist and social movements) who want to know more about funding feminist movements, access resources and connect with others who are working around this issue.
An open source platform should be used, as well as a user-friendly CMS interface, such as Wordpress. Website hosting This project needs to include the website hosting server. The final hosting environment will be approved by the AWID’s IT Manager. This will be a shared server hosting on the cloud with super admin access granted to AWID’s IT staff. The hosting environment will be evaluated on the basis of safety features: permissions, firewall & regular backups. The website domain will be finalized and purchased by AWID.
Please build at least one year of maintenance in the costs as a separate entry. This maintenance contract will include the security updates to the CMS, custom development and plugins for the website and bug fixes.
Feedback and sign-up forms
We use Mailchimp for newsletter signup forms and can use the same for sign-up forms on the microsite.
It is also vital to ensure the microsite is accessible to audiences with diverse abilities, in line with AWID’s accessibility guidelines and other relevant resources. The website content and menus must operate in 3 languages: English, Spanish and French.
The consultant(s) should have a combination of relevant professional experience and expertise in the following: Proven technical and creative expertise in website development, including using different Content Management Systems; Past experience working and collaborating with feminist/women’s rights organisations/groups/teams; Excellent writing, copy-editing and design skills; At least 2 of the 3 working languages (English, Spanish, French) is a plus.
The consultancy will begin in May 2022 and will extend until the official launch of the site (June 2022). The Alliance will make a public announcement the week of June 6th, for which the website needs to be ready.
Consultants are requested to submit a consultancy proposal that includes the following:
- A short (2-pager) proposal including tentative timeline, estimated budget and links to examples of past work.
- CV of the individual(s) that will lead this assignment.
