Manager - Resourcing Feminist Movements Initiative
Lieu: Flexible (candidates in the Global South are strongly encouraged to apply)
Overview of the organization:
The Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID) is a global, feminist, membership, movement-support organisation. Our mission is to support feminist, women’s rights and gender justice movements to thrive, to be a driving force in challenging systems of oppression, and to co-create feminist realities. AWID envisions a world where feminist realities flourish, where resources and power are shared in ways that enable everyone, and future generations, to thrive and realize their full potential with dignity, love and respect, and where Earth nurtures life in all its diversity.
The position and profile
AWID is looking to hire a committed individual to lead the Resourcing Feminist Movements (RFM) initiative as the Manager. The RFM Initiative is the evolution of AWID’s focus on resourcing feminist and women’s rights movements, and continues the legacy of the “Where is the Money for Women’s Rights?” initiative established by AWID in 2005.
In this role, you will be required to influence Initiative and organisational strategy by providing a strong voice, direction and coherence to global processes and spaces to improve and increase resources for women’s rights and feminist organizing through a range of tactics: advocacy, research and knowledge-building, convenings, and more. You will work comfortably at the intersections of the strategic and the tactical, working to develop a shared understanding of, and operationalize Initiative and organisational strategy. You will hold, develop, and maintain relationships with donor and activist allies across movements that are relevant and key for the strategic implementation of the initiative plans and bring unique expertise and content knowledge in the area of resourcing feminist and women’s rights movements. You will lead and manage the RFM team in alignment with AWID’s shared leadership values/culture.
As the right candidate, you should be able to contribute to building a diverse team and inclusive working environment. You will be understanding of AWID’s values, and be sensitive to how these influence the way you take up the responsibilities of the role.
Successful applicants will have significant experience in a similar leadership role, in a non-profit feminist, gender, human rights and/or development or funding organization. They should have demonstrated capacity with advocacy, strong donor and funder engagement experience, familiarity with the current funding landscape for women’s rights, gender equality and justice, and understanding of resourcing within broader economic justice framework. They would be someone who can thrive in a virtual environment working with diverse communities and movements across the globe, motivated to take on challenges and collaboratively find innovative and creative solutions.
