Forum Hotels

Introduction | List of Hotels | Book Online | Manual Booking Form | Bed and Breakfasts

Please note that AWID is not responsible for any hotel reservations for forum delegates. A South African Travel Agency is taking care of all AWID hotel bookings. All hotel reservations and payments should be negotiated and sent to them directly.

Introduction

In preparation for the Forum, AWID has reserved blocks of rooms at 15 Cape Town hotels from November 13th-18th, 2008. AWID has negotiated special rates for Forum delegates at all of these hotels, with prices ranging from approximately $56 USD to $150 USD per person, based on double occupancy ($75-$260 based on single occupancy).  Please note that the hotel rate includes breakfast and all applicable taxes.

We recognize that, unfortunately, due to the high volume of tourists and international events that occur in Cape Town, hotel prices are high. The hotels AWID offers were selected based on their proximity to the conference venue, the safety of the neighborhoods, and the capacity of the hotel to accommodate large group reservations.

List of Hotels (13th to 18th November 2008)

A list of the hotels is below. To reserve a room at any of these hotels, please click on either the Book Online or Book Manually links.

Important clarification: A double room is for two people who wish to share a room and a double bed (for couples), while a twin room is for two people sharing a room but not sharing beds (ie, for roommates, not couples)

Bed and Breakfasts

In addition to the hotels blocked by AWID for the forum, there are other, lower-cost options like Bed & Breakfasts that are both nearby and farther away. AWID, however, cannot guarantee the quality of these B&Bs or the safety of the neighbourhoods, and cannot provide transfers as we do from the hotels. However, for intrepid travelers who have experience with cities like Cape Town that are dispersed and don’t have much of a transit infrastructure, B&Bs as well as other types of non-traditional accommodations are a viable option and worth looking into. We do not, however, recommend this option for inexperienced travelers.
