2002 Forum Archives

Journalist Registration

The Forum is now over, but we encourage you to check the "Latest News" section of this site for selected session writeups, transcripts, and other post-forum information. Updates will be posted throughout December and January.

We welcome journalists of varied backgrounds and interests to AWID's 2005 International Forum on Women's Rights. All of our sessions are open to the press. This Forum is the flagship event of AWID and widely recognised as the largest international summit on gender equality outside the United Nations system. Held every three years, the Forum brings academics, practitioners, funders and activists together to participate in one of the most highly anticipated and productive working meetings of the gender equality movement.

Each Forum is a singular event of its own making, bringing varied new and veteran participants from communities and countries around the world. The AWID Forum will be held October 27-30 in Bangkok, Thailand, and is expected to host up to two thousand leaders and practitioners who will convene to discuss the urgent question: How does change happen? In answering this question, many varied topics will be raised in order to cover as many sectors of women's rights issues where change is possible. These topics will include women in business and economics; war, conflict, and post-conflict issues; violent and non-violent action; and other local and regional issues of concern.

After extensive preparation, we look forward to our most exciting and dynamic Forum yet. We appreciate the importance of journalists and media representatives at the Forum from all parts of the world and we look forward to meeting you at the AWID 2005 International Forum on Women's Rights in Bangkok, Thailand.
