Forum Programme

Friday, October 28, 7:30-9:30pm

You won't want to miss this dialogue amongst representatives of the funding community on how to leverage more funding for gender equality and women's rights. For the past year AWID has been conducting a fascinating piece of research on funding trends related to women's rights work. We have looked at trends in the past decade across different funding sectors from bilateral/multilateral development agencies, large independent foundations and international NGOs to women's funds, corporate foundations, family foundations and individuals. Through surveys with our large membership we have assessed how women's organisations and the work they do have been affected in Latin America, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Eastern and Central Europe and countries in transition. AWID is launching this highly anticipated research report and the action-initiative to emerge from it at this important plenary.

Come and hear about some of the surprising results of this research and what the funding community has to say about the future of financial resources for women's organising worldwide, the politics of funding, and opportunities for new alliances between the funding community and women's movements.
