Founded in 2008, Justice for All Organization (JFAO) works to strengthen the rule of law and expand access to justice for indigent women in Afghanistan. JFAO also trains women on their constitutional and social rights, preparing them for leadership roles within Afghanistan’s legal and political sectors. The organization’s primary project is a Legal Advice Bureau for women in Kabul, created in partnership with Global Rights. JFAO considers this is an important achievement because they see the traditional justice system in Afghanistan as highly patriarchal and the courts lack the capacity to provide free legal aid. JFAO is led by Afghan women, and as such their staff feels an intimate awareness of the challenges faced by other Afghan women and the most effective ways to resolve them.  JFAO differentiates itself from other organizations because it has a focus on advocating for women’s rights through the law, an approach which serves the dual purpose of rebuilding the justice system, a vital institution that has been decimated by years of war, and also empowering women. JFAO joined AWID as a member in 2011. To contact JFAO, please visit their website
