Rita Chemaly  is Lebanese. She holds a M.A. in Political and Administrative Sciences from the Institute of Political Sciences of the Saint Joseph University of Beirut. Rita is the author of Spring 2005 in Lebanon between Myths and Realities. And in 2007 she won the Samir Kassir Award for Freedom of the Press. She is also involved in the Faith and Light movement for better integration of people with mental disabilities. In 2008 she began working on a project on Gender and International trade for the “Collective for Research and Training on Development Action” (CRTDA). The organization publishes a quarterly newsletter in Arabic on Gender and International Trade, covering economic news from Lebanon and Arab countries. Rita is also an Associate Researcher at the Center for Arab Studies (CEMAM) and a consultant on project development for the National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW).
