NGO Working Group on Women , Peace and Security: Letter to the UN Secretary General regarding the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)

On November 24, 2008, the NGO Working Group (NGOWG) on Women, Peace and Security sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General regarding the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to ensure that specific concerns of women and girls are addressed.

The letter also urges the UN SG to take into account the views of women in the DRC as expressed in the Declaration that was delivered in Cape Town on 15 November during the AWID Forum (circulated on 21/11/08).

Copies have also been sent to the SRSG MONUC, DPA, OSAGI, DPKO and Special Envoy Obasanjo.
