Director, Hagar Mumbai

Job Description:

As the senior manager of Hagar in Mumbai, India the Director’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

Establishment of Office:

  • Locate and outfit office space and all needed logistics;
  • Recruit and hire trained, reliable and skilled staff, and provide new staff training and orientation as needed;
  • Arrange and obtain the appropriate protocols and permissions from Government departments for Hagar’s presence and operations;
  • Oversee establishment of financial management systems, with support from Hagar International headquarters;
  • Establish a system for regular staff evaluation, and standard procedures for recruitment, interviewing, and applicant selection, as supported by Hagar International headquarters.

Program Management

  • Supervise and manage all direct reports within the Hagar Mumbai office, inclusive of social workers, finance, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) personnel within the first year;
  • Develop and implement capacity building program for Hagar’s local partners (Oasis India, International Justice Mission, and others), and institute effective mechanisms to monitor and evaluate partners’ progress;
  • Institute appropriate technical oversight of Hagar’s vocational development and job readiness program;
  • Administer program for long-term community-based social work support for survivors of human trafficking and other vulnerable women involved in Hagar’s programs;
  • Oversee establishment of Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for beneficiary employees within Hagar’s social enterprise and ensure the provision of high quality social work services therein;
  • Ensure that all monitoring and evaluation systems developed jointly with Hagar International headquarters are effectively implemented;
  • Oversee ongoing research into the current and future needs of vulnerable women and children in Mumbai;
  • Ensure that Hagar’s core identity, values, mission, and branding are maintained throughout Hagar Mumbai’s programming and activity.

Stakeholder Management

  • Manage and administer all grant agreements, ensuring proper budget monitoring and donor accountability;
  • Represent Hagar to the national and international community;
  • Develop local networks with government, NGO, and business sectors for future expansion of Hagar’s partnership network;
  • Liaise with Hagar International in ensuring that necessary reports are supplied to donors, proper decisions are made regarding release of information, and all visitors to Hagar Mumbai’s programs are properly oriented to Hagar’s work;
  • Represent Hagar’s mission and values to government and other external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Development or related field, or relevant experience;
  • At least three years experience related to human trafficking, gender based violence, and/or trauma recovery, with knowledge of workforce development, employee assistance programs, and social enterprise development;
  • At least three years demonstrated cross-cultural leadership and management experience, preferably in India.
