Urgent Call for Submissions/Terms of Reference: UN-INSTRAW: “Strengthening women’s leadership and participation in politics and decision-making in Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia”

The project takes into consideration cultural, political and religious differences that exist in each of those countries and between them. The goal is to explore the diversity and richness of this region and to coordinate efforts, despite the differences, in the favour of collective objectives. A New Resource: Guttmacher Update:Uruguayan Legislature Votes to Liberalize Abortion Access

In a move aimed at reducing the harmful impact of clandestine, often unsafe abortions, Uruguay’s Senate voted on November 11 to allow abortion in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. The lower chamber, the House of Deputies, had voted in favor of the measure the previous week. However, Uruguayan President Tabaré Vázquez has promised to veto the legislation, leaving its enactment uncertain.
