"We are thrilled to announce the launch of a short, motivational film about how women today are making history through their giving. The Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation, Great Plains Productions and Chicken & Egg Pictures partnered to develop a fun, 4-minute film designed to inspire new donors to join a hands-on/hands-with funding movement dedicated to equity, justice and the strategic use of money for women and girls.
Read more...A New Report: MADRE: "Our Bodies Are Still Trembling: Haitian Women's Fight Against Rape"
"Six months after the earthquake in Haiti, we see a continued crisis of safety and security in the displacement camps that has exacerbated the already grave problem of sexual violence. In May and June, MADRE joined delegations coordinated by the Lawyers' Earthquake Response Network (LERN) to Haiti to investigate the problem of rape and other gender-based violence in the camps. We found that women are being raped at an alarming rate-every day-in camps throughout Port-au-Prince. The Haitian Government, the UN and others in the international community have failed to adequately address the situation. Women, especially poor women, have been excluded from full participation and leadership in the relief effort.

Read more...A New Report: Human Rights Watch: Uganda - Discrimination & Violence Against Women with Disabilities
This 73-page report describes frequent abuse and discrimination by strangers, neighbors, and even family members against women and girls with disabilities in the north. Women interviewed for the report said they were not able to get basic provisions such as food, clothing, and shelter in camps for displaced persons or in their own communities. The research was conducted in six districts of northern Uganda a region recently emerging from over two decades of brutal conflict between the rebel Lord's Resistance Army and the government.

The Women and Memory Forum has recently published the first book of its new series of Readers on Gender in the Humanities and Social Sciences. The book is titled Reader on Gender and Political Science, edited by Mervat Hatem and translated by Shohart El-Alem. The book includes twelve articles and divided into two sections.
