ILGA: Help Us Improve The State-Sponsored Homophobia Report And Map!
We are currently working on the 2011 State Sponsored Homophobia report and maps we plan to issue in time for May 17 so that you can use them locally with your media contacts.
Both the world map, the regional maps (Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean) and the report in their four languages encounter a huge success. We thank all of you who write to point out mistakes and suggest ways to improve both publications.
Last year, a call for local groups to distribute those maps at events was made which resulted in 18 groups distributing some 500 – 1000 maps each in Mumbai, Hong Kong, Beirut, Kathmandu , Abuja, Nairobi, Pretoria, Harare, Gaborone, San Miguel de Tucumán, Barranquilla, Riohacha La Guajira, Machala El Oro, Bogotá, Campina Grande and Managua.
What you can do to help?
1 - Tell us about any legal changes which have happened in your country since March 2010.
The 2010 report and maps (dated May 2010) are available here: http://www.ilga.org/ilga/en/article/1161
Please download them and see if the information on your country is accurate. If it is not the case, then send your comment to lucaspaoli@yahoo.com before Monday, February 21, 2011.
2 – Can you think of any local institution that could fund and print the map locally? Call it today and let us know about it!
3 - Tell us what you think of this project!
- Do you have any comments on the report and the map? How can it be improved?
- Did you use the State Sponsored Homophobia report? How and when did you use it?
- Did you use the maps? How and when?
- Did you use ILGA’s press release on the report to raise awareness on State Sponsored Homophobia in your country?
- How was this material perceived? What impact or result did you achieve?
Thanks for sending your contribution to lucaspaoli@yahoo.com before Monday, February 21, 2011.
Many thanks in advance,
Stephen Barris / ILGA
