Call for Submissions: Photo Competition: "What's the Point of the Revolution if I Cannot Dance?"

"What's the point of the revolution if I cannot dance?" This phrase, inspired by a quote from the 19th century Russian feminist Emma Goldman, takes on a full meaning for women who aspire to freely control their own bodies. This is the reason that the Mediterranean Women's Fund decided to make the theme of the 2012 competition the bodies of women in motion in the Mediterranean basin. Deadline for submissions: May 30, 2012.

Call for Proposals: Four Country Studies for the Project "Asymmetric Demography and Global Financial Governance: In search of growth and common interests in the post-crisis world”

CEDES and IDRC are launching a competitive Call for Proposals for research teams to conduct four country studies. Urgent Action: Front Line Defenders: Mexico: Killing of Journalist and Human Rights Defender Ms Regina Martínez Pérez

On 28 April 2012 journalist and human rights defender Ms Regina Martínez Pérez was found dead in her home in the city of Xalapa, in Veracruz. Regina Martínez Pérez was a correspondent with the weekly publication Proceso in which she addressed issues relating to drug cartels and the links between organised criminal groups and government officials.

Call for Applications: UK’s Girls’ Education Challenge

The UK’s Girls’ Education Challenge will support NGOs, charities and the private sector who can find better ways to provide education opportunities to marginalised girls in the poorest countries in Africa and Asia. The first round of funding will be open across nine priority countries: Afghanistan, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. This window of funding, called the Step Change Window, will be open to receive project concept notes from 1 May 2012.
