The Kenya Association for Maternal and Neonatal Health (KAMANEH) was established in1997 and is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious NGO committed to the improvement of maternal and children’s health in Kenya. KAMANEH aims to address the unacceptable rates of maternal and child mortality and morbidity through community-level preventive and affordable health care services targeting poor women, girls, newborns and children particularly those who reside in urban slums and rural remote communities. The organization envisions a community where mothers, newborns and children have the possibility to access preventive and affordable basic curative services. KAMANEH intends to meet its mandate through community mobilization on behalf of safe maternal health and child survival, capacity-building of community midwives, advocacy on maternal and adolescents reproductive health, pre-pregnancy care of girls and women, community-level maternal, neonatal and child health care services, skilled birth care services, promotion of sexual and reproductive rights, and development and dissemination of health materials.
