Individual Member: Suhair Hamad
Every week we profile a different individual AWID member. If you would like to be profiled here, please send your biographical information to membership@awid.org
Suhair was born in Rufaa, a city located south of Khartoum (Sudan) on the Blue Nile. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Planning and Development Studies from the Khartoum University and is employed in the Sudanese Development Association and Ockenden International. She helped organize diverse groups of women (from different tribes) registered at the Office of Humanitarian Affairs. The aim was to support them in strengthening their abilities (organizational, saving and credit management, technical, peace building, human rights) in order to increase their chances of being equal in society. Even though sometimes it is difficult, Suhair is happy to work on supporting and assisting vulnerable groups, especially women facing discrimination. Her vision is to become proficient in English and potentially attend a language course in the USA. She would also like to connect with other AWID Members. To contact Suhair, please write to membership@awid.org
